The McBaine Burr Oak is Missouri's largest Burr Oak tree. It's estimated to be between 350-400 years old. In the background is the Hale Bopp Comet which was one of the most widely observed comets of the 20th century. This photograph was taken in May of 1996 under the canopy of the Champion Burr Oak. The original photograph was shot using Kodachrome 400.
