Short-eared owl

This photo was taken on Valentine's Day.  With the wind chill factor it was 14 degrees below zero.  Big Ellie and I had been trying to take a photo of an owl flying for a long time.  Five minutes before dark, Ellie alerted me as she often does, by making her growlling noises. I looked in her direction and saw this owl.  It was a Valentine's Day gift from Big Ellie.
